Working in a
yarn store can be dangerous. Beautiful yarns are always whispering my name. On Thursday, a new color of Lavold Silky Wool (#73 Parrot Green) didn't just whisper, it yelled loudly. It's strange, too, as it's not a color that I can ever remember wearing. I might have worn it as a small kid, but I don't remember it. It's so .... bright! I must have been in a very cheerful mood when I saw the yarn.

So, then the search was on. What to make with it? I decided that it needed to be something summery. I looked through the books and online for ideas and came up with "Smock" from
Sublime Yarns. I was only half drawn to it when I saw the picture (below) from book #611. Then, I looked at other's versions of Smock on
Ravelry and liked the sweater when done without the, well, smocking, on the upper front. Left plain it made a nice little top, which would be quick and easy to knit.
The pattern called for Sublime Organic Cotton DK. I'm forgoing the Sublime and just sticking with the "lime"!!

I cast on last night and it's going fast. I'm already about 3/4 of the way to the armholes. At this rate, I'll be able to wear it in a week or so, I'm guessing.

I do like Lavold Silky Wool and I have 4 projects on the needles using this yarn: Smock, Moderne Log Cabin from the first Mason Dixon book, the Kate Cardigan from Knit Circus magazine and Yarn Forward's mystery afghan.
Off to knit. Thanks for reading!
